Formative assessment

Utilizing a pre-course assessment, or formative assessment, allows you and your students to identify their current skills and knowledge, then focus efforts on areas that need growth or improvement.

The formative assessment allows you to identify the proficiency levels of your students, so you can focus on teaching them the skills necessary for future success.

Tosa tests are designed using skills frameworks that outline knowledge and skill needed at each level of proficiency. These frameworks allow for easy integration into your existing curriculum for both in-person and online learning.

Progress evaluation

A post-course, or summative, assessment allows you to measure your students' progress and identify any additional skills to that need improvement before they take the exam to certify their individual proficiency level.

Certification

Certification exams must be taken in the classroom, in a testing center, or using Tosa remote proctoring.

The certification diploma shows your student’s score out of 1,000 points and their individual proficiency level, allowing them to share their competencies on their resume and college applications.

Which courses can Tosa be utilized in?

Any courses that teach or use desktop applications (Microsoft Office, Google), digital skills (WordPress, Cyber Citizen), graphics software (Adobe, AutoCAD), or programming skills (Python) can utilize Tosa to validate student skills. Due to Tosa’s adaptive nature, it is acceptable for any class level, from intro to advanced, and for a broad range of students from middle school to higher-education and beyond.

How do I prepare my students for certification?

To provide an independent, impartial skill validation we do not publish test preparation material. We work with several publishers who have curriculum aligned to the Tosa skills frameworks.

Once your students have taken their pre- or post-assessment, you and your students will have access to the assessment results. These reports provide insight into existing skills gaps and skills gained through your course.

How many students can take a Tosa tests simultaneously?

Tosa tests requires minimal bandwidth. We provide you with a simple tool to calculate the number of students you can test simultaneously based on your institution’s network capacity.

Is Tosa suitable for individuals with special needs?

Tosa is committed to providing equal treatment of candidates. We have incorporated multiple options to make Tosa tests accessible to people with disabilities:
- Our platform is compatible with most Google Chrome accessibility extensions (high contrast, color enhancer, magnifying glass, voice playback, etc.).
