Microsoft 365 collaborative tools provide a structured environment for teamwork and digital collaboration in educational and professional settings. Widely used to support document management through SharePoint and OneDrive, collaboration and communication via Microsoft Teams, task planning with Planner and To Do, information sharing through SharePoint news and events, and content communication using Sway presentations, Microsoft 365 supports efficient and coordinated work practices. A Microsoft 365 collaborative tools certification allows students and job seekers to demonstrate their ability to work effectively in a collaborative digital environment and supports their academic success and long-term career readiness.
A Microsoft 365 Collaborative Tools certification measures practical collaboration and productivity skills with no prerequisites. It is well suited for students and adult learners who want to validate their ability to work effectively in a Microsoft 365 environment, manage documents with SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams, plan and track tasks using Planner and To Do, share information through SharePoint news and events, communicate using Sway presentations, and use Microsoft Teams meeting features efficiently.
The Tosa Microsoft 365 Collaborative Tools certification exam evaluates four key domains:
This domain covers navigation through the Office 365 environment. Candidates will show proficiency in searching for documents, sites or people, personalized home page information, and Delve.
This domain covers document management for SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams. Candidates will show proficiency in creating, editing, deleting, sharing, describing, structuring, viewing and leveraging documents.
This domain encompasses planning and managing tasks with the Planner or To Do applications and tracking information with Lists or Forms.
This domain covers skills in information exchange, such as managing the SharePoint news or events pages, communicating via Sway presentations, and proficiency in the features of Teams meetings.
The Tosa certification for Microsoft 365 Collaborative Tools lasts one hour and uses a 35-question adaptive exam drawn from a pool of more than 280 items, including multiple-choice and interactive tasks. The test evaluates a candidate’s skills and knowledge in the four domains presented above and selects questions from five difficulty levels depending on the abilities of the test taker.
Tosa certification exams are not open book. The certification tests must be taken in a secure environment and are proctored at all times in accordance with the Tosa Exam Policy. Adaptive testing produces a unique sequence of items for each candidate, reducing the risk of cheating and item memorization. In-person and remote proctoring options are available.
The certification is valid for 3 years. Earners may retest anytime to improve their score or to maintain their certification. There is a minimum 24-hour waiting period between two retakes. Candidates receive a new version of the test with each attempt.
The result of the exam is a numeric score between 1 and 1000 points associated to a proficiency level. It is calculated using a pattern-scoring model (IRT). The minimum score required to earn the certification is 351. Certification earners receive a Tosa certification diploma that indicates the test date, the score, and the proficiency level achieved. It contains a unique authentication code for online verification. Earners with a score of 551 and above are also eligible to receive a Credly digital badge.
